Fun Facts

1. What’s the one thing about you that your business colleagues don’t know about you?
I used to ice skate competitively whilst living in Australia - I even won NSW state championships!

2. Before the pandemic, how many air miles/KMs did you flying annually?
Before the pandemic I probably flew a few thousand KMs annually.

3. What is the most adventurous food you have eaten and what city/location did you eat it?
A wild boar burger in Hamburg (it was…different).

Your Career

4. What are the top two experiences, achievements or failures that shaped your journey as a successful leader?

  • I moved to Germany by myself at a young age with no knowledge of the German language, nor had I any friends or family to fall back on. This led to many challenges in all facets of my life. I faced many setbacks and failures trying to get myself set up. This taught me resilience and gave me the ability to advocate for myself.
  • Early on in my career I was able to secure a deal that led to me achieving 400% of my annual KPIs. This accomplishment was a huge milestone for me and created the fundamental confidence I still rely on in my professional life.

5. Did you have a mentor in the early part of your career and, if so, what is the biggest lesson you learned from your mentor or influencer?
I did, he was wonderful and incredibly talented. He taught me the importance of making myself heard and to know my worth.

Walking In Your Shoes

6. What is one piece of business or career advice you would give to your younger self?
Take risks, be confident in your ability and always remember to have fun.

7. As a leader, how do you remain a resource for people early in their careers?
I make sure to take part in a buddy system at Taxdoo, to help newbies settle into their new roles. In addition, I am always available to act as a soundboard for those looking to discuss their career, especially in tech/IT fields.

Today’s Business Environment

8. What is the most interesting project you have worked on in the last few years?
I would say my most interesting project is what I am currently working on; the navigation of Taxdoo’s market entry into the UK. I can connect with so many interesting people and fantastic companies, all whilst working for a great company that I identify with.

9. What skills are you currently developing or refining (in yourself) that will make you a more successful leader in the digital economy?
I am constantly working on my communication skills; I think communication is key – especially when working internationally and interculturally.

10. What is your greatest business challenge today?
The greatest business challenge I face is creating partnerships with companies in the context of Brexit and the new EU VAT reform of 2021. These legislative complexities play an integral role in the way in which I can create business relationships. My goal is to rise to the challenge and overcome the obstacles I face, with the ongoing support of Taxdoo and through my own strengths and talent.
