Our 10 Questions for this IT Wondrous Woman.

Fun Facts

1. What’s the one thing about you that your business colleagues don’t know about you?
I come from a big family and am the middle child of 5 children. I learned to be independent and flexible.

2. Before the pandemic, how many air miles/KMs did you flying annually?
Around 100K miles.

3. What is the most adventurous food you have eaten and what city/location did you eat it?
It would have to be crocodile meat in Sydney.

Your Career

4. What are the top two experiences, achievements or failures that shaped your journey as a successful leader?
The first one is when I moved from a marketing role to a strategy and operations role. I supported the APAC sales VP and ran the day-to-day operations for him so that he could focus on strategic decisions and projects. I gained so much more experience in running a business and realized my potential beyond marketing. I then moved on to channel and sales roles. These two experiences enable me to look at marketing with a broader view now.

5. Did you have a mentor in the early part of your career and, if so, what is the biggest lesson you learned from your mentor or influencer?
I always see Sabrina Lin, a long-time senior executive at Cisco, as my mentor. In addition to strategic thinking and entrepreneurship, I learned from her that I need to lean in for what I want.

Walking In Your Shoes

6. What is one piece of business or career advice you would give to your younger self?
Build long-term meaningful relationships beyond work.

7. As a leader, how do you remain a resource for people early in their careers?
For my team, career development is a key focus. We discuss and plan for exposure, training and opportunities that support their career aspiration. Outside of work, I give guest lectures and am open to conversations on Linkedin.

Today’s Business Environment

8. What is the most interesting project you have worked on in the last few years?
I was part of a leadership team working through a transformation of the marketing organization. As a team, we built our vision and mission, and defined the roles, resources and operating models. Then I was responsible for enrolling stakeholders, building the team and executing our strategy. The transformation was massive and it touched so many areas of marketing, management and finance, and had a significant impact on the business.

9. What skills are you currently developing or refining (in yourself) that will make you a more successful leader in the digital economy?
All the new technologies… blockchain, AR, VR, metaverse and their implication to doing business and marketing.

10. What is your greatest business challenge today?
It is always how to better serve our customers. Crafting the relevant contents for them and answering their most pressing needs.
