Our 10 Questions for this IT Wondrous Woman.

Fun Facts

1. What’s the one thing about you that your business colleagues don’t know about you?
The summer before I graduated college, I cleaned salmon at a fish processing plant in Kenai, Alaska.

2. Before the pandemic, how many air miles/KMs did you flying annually?
75,000 miles.

3. What is the most adventurous food you have eaten and what city/location did you eat it?
Calf Fries (aka Rocky Mountain Oysters). My aunt from Oklahoma made them for me during a visit. She told me they were an Oklahoma delicacy.

Your Career

4. What are the top two experiences, achievements or failures that shaped your journey as a successful leader?
Many small failures have shaped my journey as a leader. Recognizing and course-correcting challenges help prevent big failures. It is better to try something and fail fast than to be paralyzed by seeking perfection in a solution. The lessons we learn when we miss the mark help to shape our outcomes and our future.

5. Did you have a mentor in the early part of your career and, if so, what is the biggest lesson you learned from your mentor or influencer?
Yes! He instilled in me that it is better to err on the side of doing something rather than taking no action at all. We learn from bad decisions and our decision making gets better through experience.

Walking In Your Shoes

6. What is one piece of business or career advice you would give to your younger self?
Abilities can be developed with effort, passion, and persistence. Opportunities are created by taking initiative.

7. As a leader, how do you remain a resource for people early in their careers?
Be available: I make it a priority to participate in brainstorming sessions to help coach our more freshman talent. A little support and guidance go a long way in helping to develop people.

Today’s Business Environment

8. What is the most interesting project you have worked on in the last few years?
An optimization initiative. I worked with other organizational leaders to develop paths to thrive in challenging markets.

9. What skills are you currently developing or refining (in yourself) that will make you a more successful leader in the digital economy?
I am focused on fine-tuning my influencing and executing skills to more effectively integrate solution offerings.

10. What is your greatest business challenge today?
Effective collaboration! Relying too heavily on digital communication can actually have adverse effects. Sometimes in person or voice-to-voice conversations are the most effective path forward.
