Fun Facts
1. What’s the one thing about you that your business colleagues don’t know about you?
I have a driver's license for heavy trucks! I took the test whilst I was living in Sweden for studies, as I needed to transport horses back and forth to competitions.
2. Before the pandemic, how many air miles/KMs did you flying annually?
Way too much to keep the work-life balance in order. Around 130,000 miles annually I believe, and I am also afraid of flying!
3. What is the most adventurous food you have eaten and what city/location did you eat it?
That must be Kangaroo meat while I was visiting Sydney in Australia. I must admit it was not my favorite meal and I did not eat much as I am an animal lover by heart.
Your Career
4. What are the top two experiences, achievements or failures that shaped your journey as a successful leader?
A challenging but fantastic experience is building up Nordcloud’s diversified rocket sales from scratch. We have both young and more senior professionals on the team, which challenges me to be a better leader every day. I believe in diversified teams where I need to listen and make room for different opinions and actions. This is not only a learning path but also key to success and drives motivation across the team.
Another great experience is developing a Global partnership between an AWS partner and AWS. In strategic discussions and shaping of partnership I found that top management in AWS was not only supportive towards me learning new things, but also gave me room to grow and learn throughout the process.
5. Did you have a mentor in the early part of your career and, if so, what is the biggest lesson you learned from your mentor or influencer?
I did. It was more of a Business Coach. I had hit a wall, and she really helped me build confidence, structure my days, and get me on my feet. I use a lot of the knowledge from this support to guide and support my current team and develop essential leadership skills.
Walking In Your Shoes
6. What is one piece of business or career advice you would give to your younger self?
Don’t be afraid of setting bold targets in your career. Create your dream scenario, cut it down to bite size chunks. Don’t fear failure but learn from it.
7. As a leader, how do you remain a resource for people early in their careers?
I want to be proactive, guide and support, and give responsibility and a mandate for them to grow and learn. They very often have different opinions and want to explore new opportunities, so supporting this is key for their growth. Nurture their curiosity by encouraging them to explore and release their full potential.
Today’s Business Environment
8. What is the most interesting project you have worked on in the last few years?
We work with a great customer of Nordcloud, Distribution Innovation AS, to build a new data analytics platform in the cloud, to make it easier for all their customers to use data in an innovative and smart way. Gaining valuable insights into their way of working, the culture dynamics, and the interorganizational teamwork is amazing. A flat organization and great talented and motivated people create success.
9. What skills are you currently developing or refining (in yourself) that will make you a more successful leader in the digital economy?
I will continue to evaluate and be true to my own values. This especially helps when they align with that of the organization, as it creates motivation and determination to perform at my best.
10. What is your greatest business challenge today?
Time management is always a challenge with so many opportunities, especially time to grow and develop my team whilst building up a sustainable business line. I have also learnt lessons with task prioritization. Sometimes swiftly executable tasks aren’t necessarily best left to last.
