Your Career
4. What are the top two experiences, achievements or failures that shaped your journey as a successful leader?
2 experiences that shaped my journey as a successful leader are reskilling from Microbiology to becoming a certified AWS Solution Architect. This reminds me to never ask others to do something that I would not do and has helped me to shape our Internship program where we have helped to reskill 100+ college students and non-students looking to make a shift in their careers towards cloud computing.
The second experience was learning that I had a bias that favored color sighted people. When choosing our logo I was challenged by my co-founder to keep our logo grey scale and do not add any accent colors so we can be inclusive to customers that are color blind. I have looked at all decisions from that day from a different lens to uncover any bias that I may be unaware that I have before making final decisions.
5. Did you have a mentor in the early part of your career and, if so, what is the biggest lesson you learned from your mentor or influencer?
